Book Description

For the first time, J. K. Rowling’s beloved Harry Potter books will be presented in lavishly illustrated full-color editions. Kate Greenaway-award winning artist Jim Kay has created over 100 stunning illustrations, making this deluxe format a perfect gift as much for a child being introduced to the series, as for the dedicated fan. Book one, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, is publishing on October 6, 2015.

Harry Potter has never been the star of a Quidditch team, scoring points while riding a broom far above the ground. He knows no spells, has never helped to hatch a dragon, and has never worn a cloak of invisibility.

All he knows is a miserable life with the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley — a great big swollen spoiled bully. Harry’s room is a tiny closet at the foot of the stairs, and he hasn’t had a birthday party in eleven years.

But all that is about to change when a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to an incredible place that Harry — and anyone who reads about him — will find unforgettable.

Pros
The artwork is simply amazing. It is beautifully detailed that makes the story come to life. The book is slender and therefore easier to hold on to while you read. It is the perfect addition to any fans collection of books, whether they own the originals or not.
Cons
The downside of this book is that it has had its vocabulary switched over to the American version. This means that some of the words may be confusing, especially to younger readers. The characters are as described which may be hard for you to get over if you have the movie stuck in your head.
Summary
All fans have been waiting on their seat to get their hands on this book. The illustrator really listened to the author so that the pictures come alive with the story.Fans can finally see the characters as the author meant for them to be seen, rather than as the movies portray. It is an amazing addition to the series of books. You will want to keep it on your shelf for years to come. This is also a great book to start your younger children on because the pictures are sure to grab their attention and make the story feel more real. If you are a fan of the characters and of the author more than you are a fan of the movies you will feel like this is a book you have to have. It does not shorten the storyline in order to obtain and more slender and easier to handle book. Instead, the book is made longer and wider to accomplish this task. It is a must to address the fact that it has been called a stab at making more money. Perhaps it was, but then again perhaps it was the way that the author could show you what she sees when she thinks of the characters.
